An Introduction to Janu Basti

Ancient Ayurvedic science introduced Janu Basti as a therapeutic approach to treat various issues of the knee joint. It is one of the most frequently used Ayurvedic therapies for arthritis. During the process, the therapist seals the knee with a dough ring and pours heated herbal oils into it. Once you take 5 to 6 sessions of the Janu Basti, you will see your knee inflammation gone and your joints get much stronger.

Preparation

A dough ring is made using black gram flour and placed around the ailing knee joint.

1

Main Treatment

Warmed medicated oils are poured on the dough reservoir. The therapist replaces the cooled oil with freshly warmed oil to keep its temperature comfortably warm.

2

Post-Treatment Care

After 35 to 40 minutes, the oil and the dough are removed, and the therapist performs a gentle knee massage.

3

Rest

The patient must rest well to increase the healing capacity of the therapy. Ayurvedic experts recommend resting for at least 30 minutes before moving the knee.
