Ayurvedic Technique for Stimulating Vital Energy Points
This ancient Ayurvedic technique works by stimulating the 107 vital energy points, or Marmas.
Duration
45-60 minutes
Best For
Rejuvenation
According to ancient Ayurvedic theories, Marmas are junctions of energy and consciousness. These are the points where joints, bones, veins, muscles, and ligaments meet. Your Marmas must stay stimulated for all physiological systems of your body to function properly. There are 107 Marmas, which, when stimulated through precise touch and gentle massage, release blocked life force or prana and thereby heal the body from within.
Ideal For:
1
The therapist warms the hands and ensures that the therapy room is peaceful. Next, he/she makes the patient sit or lie in a comfortable posture.
Depending on the type of problem the patient has, the therapist chooses the Marmas he/she will be stimulating and locates them in the patient’s body.
2
The therapy begins by applying firm pressure on the Marma points directly using the palms or fingers. This is followed by a gentle massage using circular motions.
3
The therapist may use medicated oils to make the therapy more effective. The common base oils used for this purpose include safflower, sesame, and coconut oils.
4
